Day 95 – Is there no place like home?

Jacquie’s house mate,  Matt, is into his surfing and talked me through the local spots and conditions. With the swell looking pretty good today he said I could borrow one of his boards and give it a go.

So I got myself up early and headed to Manly beach. Even though it was early the water was warm enough for just boardies. I mainly spent my time paddling about chasing the breaking waves. I caught a few but found it had to stand up on the short board. The feeling when I caught a wave and started racing down its face was awesome and I can’t wait to do some more.

By mid day the weather began to turn so we chilled out, did some shopping and I ate some more pies. Feeling festive tom and I decided to Christmas up the apartment with a tree and decorations.

In the evening Aaron, Jacquie’s boyfriend, drove us all out to the burbs to view an area where the local’s go mad on Christmas lights. It reminded me of Stanley Road, near my Mom’s, were most Christmases I take a drive to see the lights. It felt surreal, so much like home but just warmer!

About this blog

Welcome to the personal blog of Robert A J Ford, a professional interaction designer and developer based in the UK.

I started this blog in 2007 to record my cycle training leading up to the Etape. I've never been one for diaries but this format works well with my job and lifestyle so I expanded it to record details of other training and events.

As the blog grew it became a space where friends and family followed my activities. Their feedback has inspired me to keep writing. I hope you find something of interest and please feel free to leave comments.
