Day 50 – Half century

Got woken from a lovely dream buy loud street noises and breakfast being served next door. A shower sorted me out but I shuddered when I saw eggs for breakfast again.

Spent the morning exploring the towns shops in a bid to replace some of my kit. I picked up a funky hat and glove set from local street stalls. From a camping shop, all fake goods, I managed to get a fleece and new bag. The shopping did give me good practice at my bartering skills so by the time I´d found a decent priced camera I saved even more.

I had hoped to take a few pictures in the afternoon but it threw it down with rain for the rest of the day. In the evening we ventured out to book a tour and to get food. We´re booked on the sacred valley tour for tomorrow. With it being a Sunday we´ll see several markets as well as several Inca sites. A whole day, including guide and lunch has cost about 10 pounds.

Food prices in Cusco vary wildly, getting more expensive towards the tourist areas. Yesterday we just opted for somewhere cosy looking but realised it was expensive at 12 pounds each. Today we ate set menus for lunch and diner for under 5 pounds. The soup I had at diner was the freshest and finest tasting asparagus soup I´ve ever had.

About this blog

Welcome to the personal blog of Robert A J Ford, a professional interaction designer and developer based in the UK.

I started this blog in 2007 to record my cycle training leading up to the Etape. I've never been one for diaries but this format works well with my job and lifestyle so I expanded it to record details of other training and events.

As the blog grew it became a space where friends and family followed my activities. Their feedback has inspired me to keep writing. I hope you find something of interest and please feel free to leave comments.
