Day 47 – Into Peru

Had a lazy day watching DVD´s at the hostel before going to the airport for our flight to Lima. I treated myself to another Chinese just to get some veg inside me.

It was only a short hop (2 1/2 hours) to Lima. On arrival we flew through immigration and customs before dodging past the arrivals hustlers. After bartering with a taxi driver we were treated to the customary F1 driving of cab drivers. On the way we saw a gang of youths fighting but were assured by the driver that our destination, Miraflores, is safe around the clock.

The driver knew our hostel, The Flying Dog, well and dropped us at the front door. Unfortunately on entering we were told that the room I booked wasn´t available. We ended up crossing the park to another of their hostels.

The place was clean(ish) and had a group of new arrivals in the lounge. After a quick BK we joined them for beer and pool. It was an interesting group made up of several Europeans and a Canadian. The beers flowed as we played a snap like game, called nervous hand, into the early hours.

About this blog

Welcome to the personal blog of Robert A J Ford, a professional interaction designer and developer based in the UK.

I started this blog in 2007 to record my cycle training leading up to the Etape. I've never been one for diaries but this format works well with my job and lifestyle so I expanded it to record details of other training and events.

As the blog grew it became a space where friends and family followed my activities. Their feedback has inspired me to keep writing. I hope you find something of interest and please feel free to leave comments.
