Day 104 – The final road trip

No hang over, woo hoo the joy of spirits, but a little sluggish this morning. The plan to get into Sydney early for some shopping went out the window in favour of extra sleep. We picked up the car, an automatic Toyota Yaris, from Hertz at midday and after faffing with documents and insurance we hit the road just before one.

It was a bit of and experience getting out of the city and we managed to leave the main Route 1 and get a bit lost. We soon found our way and made our way to Bateman’s Bay. There’s a scenic coastal road you can take but we’re saving this for the rerun drive, instead focused on getting  the miles covered.

We arrived in Batemans Bay early evening and after checking in to the YHA took a drive along the scenic coast. From a lookout point we got a view of the bay and the islands that sit in its entrance. There should be some nice beaches to explore tomorrow. The YHA’s pretty funny, its a caravan park and the dorm we’re staying in is one of a few static’s that sit on the outskirts. Still it looks clean and comfy enough, not so sure about the rooster not far from the room though.

About this blog

Welcome to the personal blog of Robert A J Ford, a professional interaction designer and developer based in the UK.

I started this blog in 2007 to record my cycle training leading up to the Etape. I've never been one for diaries but this format works well with my job and lifestyle so I expanded it to record details of other training and events.

As the blog grew it became a space where friends and family followed my activities. Their feedback has inspired me to keep writing. I hope you find something of interest and please feel free to leave comments.
