Day 101 – Sorry Skippy

Spent the morning doing a bit of research into where we can go in the next week. Ideally we’d like to get to Melbourne or Byron Bay. Unfortunately we hadn’t factored in for the time of year and flights are through the roof. Same can be said for trains and coaches so we’re left kind of stumped for ideas.

Perhaps there we shouldn’t go anywhere and stay here and relax. Testing this theory out we headed for Shelly Beach after lunch. Shelly is just round the bay from Manly and is a bit more sheltered from the waves. It was the perfect place to relax in the afternoon sun. Feeling energetic I went for a sea swim. I’m not usually one for swimming, I find it a little boring, but swimming without barriers and in the waves is a damn good workout.

For dinner I cooked fired up the BBQ to cook some Kangaroo steak and sausages. Initially I wasn’t too keen on eating Skippy but after the first bite I was converted. It tastes like a sweet rump steak but without being tough to chew.

About this blog

Welcome to the personal blog of Robert A J Ford, a professional interaction designer and developer based in the UK.

I started this blog in 2007 to record my cycle training leading up to the Etape. I've never been one for diaries but this format works well with my job and lifestyle so I expanded it to record details of other training and events.

As the blog grew it became a space where friends and family followed my activities. Their feedback has inspired me to keep writing. I hope you find something of interest and please feel free to leave comments.
