Great South Run 2009

The clocks change and I’m drawn to Portsmouth for what’s become a tradition – the Great South Run.

As usual I was joined by the git guy who got me into this running malarkey, Tom. We’ve been doing this event pretty much every year since we left university and as we see each other less its always good to know we have at least one event in the calendar a year. I addition I get the kind hospitality of Tom’s parents, including superb flapjacks!

This year wasn’t set to be a fast one as my foot is still not up to running and Tom hadn’t been well. The most I’d done was a three mile run the Friday before and my foot hurt afterwards. Still the sun was out and I was happy just to participate.

We ran well, overcame the usual demons, and finished in a respectable time of 1:16:16. No personal best but no personal worst either and I had a great day.

Already entered into the Great South Run 2010!

I appreciate any and all serious feedback, especially if you feel strongly about something I have written about.

About this blog

Welcome to the personal blog of Robert A J Ford, a professional interaction designer and developer based in the UK.

I started this blog in 2007 to record my cycle training leading up to the Etape. I've never been one for diaries but this format works well with my job and lifestyle so I expanded it to record details of other training and events.

As the blog grew it became a space where friends and family followed my activities. Their feedback has inspired me to keep writing. I hope you find something of interest and please feel free to leave comments.
