It's been a manic start to the week with gig's at the O2 Academy for Biffy Clyro and the NIA for Muse.

On Monday I went to see Biffy Clyro. They were good but I thought not as good as when I last saw them in Dublin. May have been more to do with the pillar blocking most of my view!

Biffy Clyro

Tuesday was a trip to Birmingham again for Muse. I’d not seen them before and went along because I heard they put on good shows. I was not disappointed. Although some others thought it wasn’t as good as previous gigs I loved the stage setup and the jam sessions. In particular the interlude with just the drum and bass players was superb. When the popular songs, like New Born, did come on the crowd jumped so much the floor bounced like a spring board.

Muse

Tonight I plan on sitting in a quiet room and sleeping!

The impact of the credit crunch is starting to reach further into my everyday life than I’d expected. I was speaking to one of the ladies who help run the boat club and she was saying how we’re going to find it hard generating revenue this year.

Many of the companies who sponsor the clubs big events, like our regatta, are pulling out or reducing funding. Iit could get really difficult for the club but I think the team spirit shall come into play and we’ll find more people pulling together to raise money or reduce cost. I’ve found myself doing little things like turning off the lights when not needed. I wonder if we could hook up the ergos to the grid and supply our own power!

Its great to hear some of their new tracks live as well as some of the classics; they even played ‘Two More Years’.

I hear they’re playing again in Birmingham in October so be sure to try and get tickets.

With it being gray and miserable in Sydney I’ve been using my time to try and spruce things up a little. I’m hoping that this latest them brings together some of the best bits of past experiments. Its certainly been interesting trying to develop it on my travel laptop.

I’d appreciate and and all feedback.

Of all the endurance events I’ve done nothing is quite as hard as 3 hours in Ikea with my mom!

The course is long and split onto many levels. On the way there’s tat stops a plenty and like food stops you need to watch how much time you spend at them.

what really sets the Ikea challenge apart from the rest is that once you’ve completed the showroom part, and think you’re on the home straight, you have to go through the self service course.

I made it through though, without spending a thing, and in only an hour longer than expected. For those of you wanting a tougher challenge try Ikea on a bank holiday.
