Stratford Cycling Club

Not wanting to have too much of a come down after the Etape I went for a ride with Stratford Cycling Club after rowing on Saturday. I’m thinking to either taking up road or trial racing next year so thought going out with these guys might tell me if I’m up to it.

Meeting up near the Greenway we set out on a 40 miler. There were about 15 riders there but as we went along some split off, leaving 5 at the end. The pace varied from cruising to heart warming. I easily kept up but got the feeling they could go a lot faster if they wanted.

I really enjoyed riding in a group and chatting to people. The highlight was riding with Kosta, a guy who’d ridden to Pau and back for competing in the Etape (read the story). We compared notes about the race and I was inspired by his story.

Hopefully I’ll have time to go out with them again before I go away.

About this blog

Welcome to the personal blog of Robert A J Ford, a professional interaction designer and developer based in the UK.

I started this blog in 2007 to record my cycle training leading up to the Etape. I've never been one for diaries but this format works well with my job and lifestyle so I expanded it to record details of other training and events.

As the blog grew it became a space where friends and family followed my activities. Their feedback has inspired me to keep writing. I hope you find something of interest and please feel free to leave comments.
