Training round up

Its been a while since I’ve done this and I feel I’ve been letting myself down when it comes to cycling. To be fair though I’m not slacking off. This is my general training plan for the week:

  • Monday – Weights followed by 12 – 18k of ergos
  • Tuesday – Circuits
  • Wednesday – Motus core stability
  • Thursday – Run
  • Friday – Off
  • Saturday – Rowing
  • Sunday – Rowing

The bulk of my training is rowing focused at the moment but that’s because I want to do well in the HORR. My ergo splits at the moment are good and I’m one of the strongest in the crew.

This last week my focus has returned to cycling although the didn’t help. I can’t sit on the winter bike so I’ve ordered a new saddle and rigged up the summer one on a turbo trainer. My plan is to get some indoor miles in whilst catching up with season three of Heroes.

This weekend I did manage to get out on the road. I suggested to my rowing mate, Steve, that we cycle in to training on Sunday. In all the return trip covered 22 miles on a gloriously sunny day. Its helped remind me how much I love getting out there.

Trek Madone 5.0 (2007)
I love this bike, some would say too much with the amount of time I spend maintaining it! But if I'm going to be going 50mph down a mountain I want to know its in good shape.

About this blog

Welcome to the personal blog of Robert A J Ford, a professional interaction designer and developer based in the UK.

I started this blog in 2007 to record my cycle training leading up to the Etape. I've never been one for diaries but this format works well with my job and lifestyle so I expanded it to record details of other training and events.

As the blog grew it became a space where friends and family followed my activities. Their feedback has inspired me to keep writing. I hope you find something of interest and please feel free to leave comments.
